For more than 100 years, Gottwald Port Technology has kept the international cargo handling business in motion with its pioneer spirit, continuity and innovative strength. The history of our company, steeped in tradition, has been marked by successful change and vitality. Since our centennial in 2006, we have been a subsidiary of Demag Cranes AG, a listed joint-stock company, and thus a part of a global major Group with a workforce of some 5,800 employees.

As a member of this sound Group, Gottwald represents the Port Technology segment. In addition to developing and manufacturing Mobile Harbour Cranes – a field in which Gottwald has long since been the world market leader – we have set the pace in the terminal automation sector since the end of the 1980s. Today's comprehensive product portfolio confirms our success in transforming from a classical crane manufacturer to an integrator of systems: we offer our customers, in addition to Harbour Cranes, innovative automated solutions for container transport and housekeeping. Thanks to propriety fleet management software, our fully Automated Guided Vehicles and Automated Stacking Cranes can be integrated into a single system. In addition, we are ready to serve our customers with our expertise comprising consulting, simulation scenarios and project management.

We help terminal operators with our innovative automation and software solutions to meet their requirements in container handling and to increase terminal productivity. A follow-up order for 10 Automated Stacking Cranes (ASC) for the Antwerp Gateway Terminal in Belgium and an order for software to be used at the Euromax Terminal under construction in Rotterdam, Netherlands are just two examples to be named. We pride ourselves in our active contribution to protecting the environment: in Hamburg, Germany and Rotterdam, the Netherlands, our new container transporters with diesel-electric drive (E-AGVs) make use of environmentally-friendly technology.

In the field of Harbour Cranes, we are also entering ever new areas of application thanks to our uncompromising policy of continuous development: we have sold, for example, 12 Floating Cranes since launching them on the market in 2004. With the Generation 5 Harbour Pontoon Crane, for operation on open seas, our successful Floating Crane technology has entered into new dimensions. The Floating Crane in the Java Sea south of Kalimantan, Indonesia, handles export coal from river barges to seagoing vessels. And not forgetting the on-going success of the new Generation 5 Harbour Cranes with the models 4, 6, 7 and 8.
